Quinua Bowl: tricolor blend of quinoa, roasted chiles, corn, chickpeas, pickled red onion, avocado, vegan chipotle aioli     Aster Cafe , Minneapolis, MN 55414 🌿🌿🌿 This is our restaurant next to the Minneapolis Saint Paul Film Society, The Main theater, that is the reason we go pretty often. The menu is small but delicious and nothing here is disposable, except for the paper napkins, that is why can't have the highest score. Our favorite appetizer is the Artichoke Dip, it is really delicious. All the flatbread as good as well, but I think I especially like the Wild mushroom one. The Quinoa Bowl (photo) is in my top list. The selection of beers is good, service is kind and efficient. And, you can also check on the movie theater, there is always excellent movies being screening as MSP Film Society now own the whole Main Theater.  Good food, good service, next to the movie theater to have a drink in between movies, better impossible!  Eat Green, Be Happy rating syst...

Red Cow, St Paul, MN

Imagen
With my pal Camilo, in my first visit to Red Cow Red Cow , St Paul, Minnesota 🌿🌿🌿🌿 For my husband this is the best (or one of the best) hamburgers that he has ever try and believe me when I tell you that he have eaten a lot of hamburgers everywhere. So, I won't discuss his opinion because in this field he is the expert. His favorite is the award hamburger: Double Barrel Burger (2016 Battle Winner). I prefer veggie burguers that I make at home following the recipies of Venu Sanz chef, but when I go to eat outside this is definetely the best option. I tried two of Red Cow veggie options and I like more the Veggie Love (curried chickpea burger, avocado salsa, sliced red cabbage). I have also tried So Cal Burger but it really taste like a regular burger and I can't tell what is in it, so that is uncomfortable for me, I prefer knowing what I am eating. Anyway, in terms of conscious and responsability with the environment, not a single item in this restaurant is disposabl...

Kan Cafetería, Heredia, Costa Rica

Imagen

Luci Ancora, St Paul, MN

Imagen
Luci Ancora, St Paul, MN 55105 🌿🌿🌿🌿 A very classic style, the decoration of this restaurant is sober, simple and beautiful. It has a three course prix fixe lunch for $20 dollars and a four course prix fixe dinner for $25 to $30 dollars, depending on what you choose. The food is very tasty, very well put together; they don’t just serve a regular salad or soup but a special dish. There is always a veggie option or a fish option for pescatarians like me. I recommend: Lattuga alla griglia, spaghetti napolitana, and dolci del giorno (photo). I am so happy to give Luci Ancora the highest score, four leaves. Nothing in this restaurant is one-use-only. Every decision among food and environment was very careful considered. I think the price is very affordable for the service and food, both of the highest quality. I strongly recommend this place, you will feel the love in the air.     Eat Green, Be Happy rating system 🌿🌿🌿🌿   4 leaves: All green 🌿🌿🌿.  3 le...

Ichiddo Ramen, St. Paul, MN

Ichiddo Ramen, St Paul, MN 55116 🌿🌿🌿  There is some people that don’t pay for noodles but others that enjoy them, especially when taste good and came in a beautiful and artistic bowl, I am one of the latter. This small restaurant is delicious, I tried the ramen in a soup but there is also an option of fried noodles. My bowl was full of vegetables and it was enough for a good lunch. All the utensils were not only non plastic but pretty, it was obvious that were chosen with good taste, even the chopsticks that in many restaurants are of one use only. The decoration of the restaurant is simple but gives a great impact. They use spoons or ceramic bowls of different styles to bring an artistic touch. Unfortunately, I can’t give Ichiddo the perfect score because of the plastic container of the thai tea, other wise delicious and with bubbles, which I enjoyed but I think I prefer my tea withouth them. The tea was served in a plastic container with a big straw. The other dis...

Welcome! Eat Green, Eat With Conscious, Be Happy

I had the idea to create this blog since I arrived to the United States for the first time in August 2010. As part of the culture shock of being in another country and learning its language, its culture, and its social norms, I was surprised and disappointed by the amount of waste, especially plastic, of disposable, one-use, to-go containers, that are produced all day long, especially related with food: coffee, lunch, dinner, juice, etc. I discovered very soon that the idea of a country that prides itself on its recycling was one of many falsehoods of the American way of life. It might be true that the US recycles more, but it also wastes more. Maybe it is better to say that they separate the garbage, but recycling is a reality only for 20% of all their waste, except for California where 70% of the waste is recycled.  One of the first procedures I forced myself to remember anytime I went to buy food or a drink was to say "to stay, in a mug, please." Otherwise I receiv...
